Orange County Fire Rescue is getting ready to celebrate National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.

The second week of April is set aside to recognize all of the hard work by the many people who help save millions of lives across the country.

Orange County Fire Rescue said all of the men and women who are 911 dispatchers work on the front line and deserve recognition for all of the work they do.

“Even though we’re surrounded with a lot of negativities at times a lot of people are calling for help for different reasons and I can offer them whatever help they need,” said Lisette Vega with Orange County Fire Rescue.

To celebrate the upcoming week, dispatchers will have lunches and dinners brought to them.

“Our 911 dispatchers are highly trained and highly motivated every day,” said Fire Chief James Fitzgerald. “They care about the community and those who live in it and for that, I commend them on their duties to help people on what is possibly the worst day of their life.”
